Modifying guides for an account

Guides can be changed and tailored, even after they're launched.

A really unique part of building activation journeys with Bento is that you can change the content of a customer's guide even after it's been launched, or is in flight. For example, a check-in call might yield a new path forward, or shed light on which features are most relevant for this particular customer.

How to modify a guide that's launched

To change what a customer is seeing, simply select the customer from the Customer's page and pick the relevant guide. From there, add, remove or change the order of step groups. You can even change the step content – for example, include next steps or swap out a generic video for a custom one filmed in their instance!

Watch-outs

Once you modify a guide for a specific customer, it is considered "special" so changes to the underlying guide template will not be sync'd. We don't want to take risks in overriding custom content!

Second, once guides are "completed" you can still add step groups, but that won't reset the guide to "incomplete":

  • Users won't get a new success-message when they complete the guide.

  • If the user is onto their next guide, they won't automatically see new content in a completed guide unless they deliberately return to their Active Guides view (pretty rare).

  • All to say, we really don't recommend futzing with guides that have been "completed" and recommend instead launching a new guide for that customer.
