Keeping guides fresh and relevant

One of the biggest fears around creating guides is the overhead of keeping them relevant and up-to-date.

Here are some tips and tricks:

  1. When updating a guide, we’ll ask if you want to push changes to everyone who has an active version of that guide today, or only roll out changes moving forward. If you’ve caught a typo, or a fundamental way in which users use a feature has changed, go ahead and sync changes. Otherwise, only new users really have to be caught up.

  2. If an embedded video’s original version (i.e. in Loom) is ever deleted, it’ll show as a 404 error to your users. Fear not, if that ever happens, we can auto-detect it and send you a notification so you can swap it out for the latest.

  3. In general we find users to be pretty smart – small idiosyncrasies in UI rarely throw people off – it’s the bigger changes like for entirely new features that most need maintenance.
