Bento's vision is to enable you to build highly relevant and interactive activation experiences. Input fields are the latest way of streamlining all the touch-points that make up your customers' onboarding journey.
Where can you use input fields?
Input fields are available in guide components that have enough space to accommodate these interactive experiences. That means:
Checklist onboarding guides
Sidebar contextual guides
Announcement modals
Embedded cards and carousels
Tooltips
Basically, you can set a step to an "Input" type anywhere but in floating banners (because there'd be no space)!
What kinds of inputs are available?
Bento supports 5 kinds of input fields, much like what you'd expect in a form:
Short text (maximum of 100 characters)
Email (with email validation)
Paragraph text
Numbers
NPS (paired with NPS-specific UI)
Multiple choice (drop down)
Use-cases
Onboarding feedback
For example, add a final step to an onboarding guide that asks the user to tell you their favorite feature, and their biggest struggle during onboarding.

Collect user information
Whether knowing the exact role they're in, the team they're on, or the name of another stakeholder to engage, Input Fields allow you to capture this information in a structured and repeatable way.

How to add them to a guide
Inputs are currently its own Step Type. They are available in all checklists guides, modals, and tooltips.
You can add multiple inputs within the same step, and still pair it with step descriptions. However, you cannot add inputs to another step type like Branching.
Collecting answers
Slack
If you have Slack notifications enabled, you'll get a feed of user inputs as they submit (and complete) the step.
Answers will also be shared in Step completion notification emails
CSV
You can download answers (along with information on who submitted it and when) by heading to the Analytics tab within a guide
Webhooks
You can subscribe to our webhooks to get answers to branching and input questions. This is a standard plan feature.
We also plan on exposing answers via API. Please reach out if you have a use case and requirements in mind.
