Often you want every account to get the "Welcome" part of your onboarding guide however, the next steps may need to be different based on customer use case, purchased plan, etc.

With dynamic step groups, you can add step groups to an onboarding guide based on account attributes. Similar to how you would target guides to various accounts.

How to add a dynamic step group to a guide

  1. Create your base onboarding guide from the guide library

  2. Navigate to the 'Step groups' tab and create the step group you want to dynamically add

  3. From the step group editor, navigate to the 'Targeting' tab and choose which attributes you want to use to launch the step group. Don't forget to accurately choose 'any' vs. 'all' based on your attribute list.

  4. Choose which guide you want the step group to be added to and hit 'Save to step group'

  5. You can then launch your base onboarding guide to relevant users and see how they different based on your dynamic step group targeting

  6. See important watch-outs below!

Watch-outs

  • You can only use account attributes, not user attributes

  • Analytics for the dynamically added step group are not captured

  • Changes to the step group will not propagate to live guides (guides that have already been viewed by customers)

  • Step groups will not be deleted if the account no longer matches the targeting attributes

Note: This is a standard plan feature, let us know if you are interested.
