Our Zapier integration will enable you to pass data from Bento into your tool of choice (if they have a Zapier integration of course).

Like what?

  • Identify PQLs amongst free trial users and help AEs target their outreach

  • Send marketing campaigns based on progress in the onboarding guides

  • Enable CSMs to track step completion so they know who needs more hands-on help

Pass data from Bento into other tools

Head to Zapier to Create a Zap!

  • Search for Bento in the Trigger (currently, we need to invite you to use the Zap so reach out if you can't find it.)

  • You will be asked to log-in to your Bento account and to provide an authorization token. Navigate to the integrations page in Bento to generate and copy your token.

  • Choose the event you want to use as the trigger. If you want the event to trigger for a specific guide you can pass in the guideName and stepName but this is optional. If you don't include this, it will trigger for any active guide.

  • Test your trigger and continue on to set your action

Set up your action

Now you can decide what you want that trigger to do. Choose whichever action is most relevant to you (slack notification, load in another tool, etc.) and leverage the triggers meta-data to craft the action.

Once all set-up, be sure to Publish to set the action and trigger live!

Pass data into Bento via Zapier

With Zapier, you can choose out of 1500+ apps as a Trigger to then pass data into Bento.

Bento via Zapier supports two actions:

  1. Send Event

  2. Update Attributes

The first step is selecting which trigger you want to enable one of the above actions. Some examples:

  • When a tag is added to a User in Intercom, update a user attribute in Bento

  • When a new account is created in Salesforce, update an account attribute in Bento

  • When a meeting is scheduled via Google Calendar, send an event to Bento

  • ...

Intercom example

You then want to define the action that Bento will take and ensure the data is linked to the right user / account combination.

Update Attribute

  1. You will be asked to log-in to your Bento account and to provide an authorization token. Navigate to the integrations page in Bento to generate and copy your token. Paste it into the field in Zapier.

  2. Identify the User ID from the data in the Trigger payload

    1. It will typically be some form of user ID that looks like a UUID (combination of letters and numbers and dashes)

  3. Identify the Account ID from data in the Trigger payload

    1. It will typically be some form of account or company ID that looks like a UUID (combination of letters and numbers and dashes)

  4. Choose a target attribute type. Your options are account or accountUser

    1. account refers to attributes that are for the entire company / account

    2. accountUser refers to attributes that are for a specific end user

  5. Define the property / attribute you want to create from the Trigger

    1. You can type in the key and choose the data value from the Trigger payload

Intercom example

If this is successful, in Bento you can click into the relevant customer, head to the details tab and check that the attribute has been added to the account or specific user.

Don't hesitate to reach out as you are setting this up. We can ensure you are choosing the correct IDs and getting the Zap to work as expected.
