QA'ing the guide experience

Preview:

The best way to get a sense for how your guide will look & feel is to preview the guide. Preview can be found in a tab or next to the content for each Bento guide. It will reflect how the guide will look in your app.

  • Note: previews do not have the full styling of your Bento component when it is in-app because we inherit so many styles, but it is a quick way to get a feel. (E.g, fonts will look different in some cases)

Targeting and testing:

We recommend launching your first guide to a test account in your own app that you have access to.

  • ⚠️ This requires the snippet be installed

  • Verify that data is passing in correctly by going to the Customers page and seeing the test account you want to use show up (as well as any other customer accounts)

  • Navigate back to the guide you want to launch and set the targeting rules.

    • Control who gets the guide (this will likely look like you launching to a handful of internal accounts to test with)

    • And where the guide lives in your app

  • Once launched (press the launch button in the top right) you will be able to see your guide in your product

Template resetting

From any guide in Bento, you can reset it such that anyone with the guide will be able to start from scratch.

Resetting is handy for testing but we do not recommend using it beyond QA.

Choose your guide from the guide library and then use the three dot menu to choose "Reset". You can also use bulk actions to reset many guides at once in the guide library.

You can also reset guides on a per account basis.

  • From the Customers page pick the account you wish to reset guides for.

  • Click "Manage guides" to see all the guides for that account

  • From the drop down in the top right corner, choose "Reset all"

Manual launch

If you want to launch guides to one account, we call this manually launching.

  • Click “Manage guides" and then "Add guide” and select the guide you want.

  • Press launch and the guide will be active for the select users and account

Then, log into that account and take your own guide for a spin!

  • You can come back to that Customer’s page, click into Guides, select the guide you launched, and see details like steps viewed and completed

  • You can easily delete for this account and relaunch as needed using the 3 dot menu next to the guide name. We know when testing you may want to do this multiple times so feel free to reset guides

Once this looks good to you, feel free to set live for other customers, or even set it to automatically launch for all new users and customers that fit your targeting criteria.
