Our customers want to connect Bento to Hubspot to provide CS and AE's insights on how prospects or customers are using the product. Completion of steps in the onboarding guide can signal how product-qualified a lead is (especially if the steps are set to auto-complete based on event taken in product).

To connect Bento to Hubspot, we recommend you use Zapier while we roll out a native Hubspot integration.

More info on our Zapier integration here.

Passing data from Hubspot into Bento

Bento via Zapier supports two actions:

  1. Send Event

  2. Update Attributes

The first step is selecting which Hubspot trigger you want to enable one of the above actions. Some examples:

  • Updated a deal stage to pass in as an attribute to Bento

  • When a form is submitted, send an event to Bento

You then choose Bento Everboarding and the desired action.

To ensure the action is attributed to the correct user or account you need to have the Bento user and account IDs in Hubspot. Alternatively, you can use Zapier's "Code by Zapier" to leverage email or another identifier. Please reach out if you would like to see some sample code.

Pass data from Bento into Hubspot

You need to have a premium Zapier plan to achieve this as we will create a 3 step Zap ($19.99/month).

With Zapier you can pass: Guide started, Guide completed, or Step completed data into Hubspot.

First set up Bento as a Trigger, choose what event you want to tigger this Zap based on.

Then proceed through the steps to finish setting up the trigger.

To update a contact in Hubspot based on when the Bento event triggers, you will need to two steps in your Zap.

First, search for the Hubspot action and choose the Find a Contact event. Use the email from the Bento trigger to find the Hubspot contact. We are most interested in the Hubspot Object ID.

Next, set up ANOTHER action in Zapier that is "Update Contact" in Hubspot.

The only required field in this set-up is the Object ID which you retrieved when you found the contact. Choose ID from the 'Find Contact in Hubspot' list.

Below ObjectID there are many other fields associated to the contact. You can pass in the Bento guide name or step name into the field so that you can keep track of guide progress in Hubspot.

Test all the steps of your Zap and then publish to see the data flow in.

Advanced use cases

If you want to keep track of the number of steps completed you can create a workflow in Hubspot or another action in Zapier. Reach out and we can help you with this.
