Allow users to submit support tickets and start live chat from the Bento sidebar

Zendesk is a customer service platform that enables teams to manage customer support and interactions, with ticketing systems, live chat, and knowledge base management.

Connect Bento with Zendesk to allow users to submit support tickets and chat live, all from the Resource Center in the Bento sidebar. This way you won't overwhelm your users with many different widgets on the same page.

Creating ticket

To set up creating a ticket, you or a colleague must

  • Have admin access

  • Enable anyone to submit tickets

  • Provide your subdomain and an API token.

In Zendesk

To enable anyone, without registration to create a ticket,

  1. In Admin Center, click People in the sidebar, then select Configuration > End users.

  2. In the Anybody can submit tickets section, select Enabled.

  3. Make sure Require authentication for request and uploads APIs is not selected.

  4. Make sure Ask users to register is not selected.

  5. Click Save tab.

Subdomain

You can find the subdomain of your account on the Support Admin home page.

API token

  1. In Admin Center, click Apps and Integration in the sidebar, then select API > Zendesk API

  2. Make sure Token access is enable

  3. Click Add API Token

  4. Give the token a description (if you want)

  5. Copy the token.

Make sure to copy and store this token. It WILL NOT show again after you click Save or leave the page.

In Bento

  1. Log into Bento and navigate to integrations

  2. Click Modify integration

  3. Under Create support ticket, add your subdomain and API token

  4. Click Enable

Live chat

To set up chat, you need to first install the Zendesk Web Widget correctly.

  • In order to avoid showing the Zendesk launcher briefly while the Bento toggle loads, you should use the "Custom launcher" option in Zendesk

In Bento

  1. Log into Bento and navigate to integrations

  2. Click Modify integration

  3. Toggle on Users can chat with support

Styling

You can rename the titles for creating a ticket and chat from the Styles page in Bento.

  • Resource center > Help center integration

  • You can only rename titles after enabling each integration.
